Dear All,
Forthcoming Presentations in Hertfordshire
This is my first News Letter for some time, but that does not mean that I have been sitting around doing nothing! In fact, quite a lot has been going on, but this must stay behind the scenes for the moment, and I hope to be able to make some important and interesting announcements sometime soon. In the meantime, Valerie Christman and I have three more Presentations booked in Hertfordshire over the next few months, and we look forward to seeing as many of our friends and ‘followers’ there as possible.
The dates and venues are:
Wednesday, 29th October 2014 at 8 p.m.
for the Ware Society
‘The Priory’, High Street, Ware, SG12 9AL

Friday, 21st November 2014 at 8 p.m.
for the Waltham Abbey Historical Society
Baptist Church , Paradise Road Waltham Abbey, EN9 1RL

** Note: The presentation at Hoddesdon is likely to be heavily subscribed, and early ticket reservations are recommended. They will be £2 per head, and reservations can be made by telephone on 0300 123 4049, or by email at http://www.hertsdirect.org/libraries. In the event of car parking being unavailable on the High Street, the nearest facility is in the Sainsburys outside Car Park behind the Library – do NOT park above or beneath the enclosed Car Park, as this closes at 10 p.m., and we may not be finished until just after that time. The postcode for the car park is EN11 8HF, and, as shown in the Google Earth picture, one proceeds from there, and up the lane beside the Library to the entrance in the High Street.
The Sainsburys Outdoor Car Park in Hoddesdon EN11 8HF
I shall talk about some of the experiences that I encountered during my research leading up to the publication of Rock Landscapes: The Pulham Legacy, and Valerie – who is directly descended from the Pulham family, and is an amateur geologist, professional gardener and garden designer in her own right – will talk about the lives and work of the ‘Pulhams of Broxbourne’, and of her early experiences with Pulhamite. Time permitting, this will be followed by a short Q & A session, after which I shall be available to sign copies of my book, which will be available at a specially discounted Presentation Price of £25 per copy.
We have prepared a video montage of pictures and photographs that will be running during the assembly of guests, prior to the commencement of our talks. They are all examples of landscapes and garden ornaments created by the Pulhams, and help to illustrate the tremendous range of expertise and skills for which this remarkable firm were renowned. We hope that you will join us, and have an interesting and enjoyable evening.
